Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the weight capacity for this hanging egg chair? A: Features a reinforced iron frame designed to safely support up to 120 kg (264 lbs), making it suitable for most adults.
Q: Is the cushion truly waterproof? A: Yes, the cushion is crafted with waterproof 200g/m² polyester fabric that effectively repels moisture and light rain. For extended durability, we recommend bringing it indoors during heavy downpours or when not in use for prolonged periods.
Q: Can this chair be used outdoors? A: Absolutely! The chair is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. The weather-resistant PE rattan and iron frame withstand outdoor conditions well. For best results, place in covered or semi-covered areas like patios, porches, or under awnings.
Q: How much space do I need for this chair? A: The compact basket measures 84cm wide × 65cm deep, with a base diameter of 95cm. We recommend allowing at least 120-150cm of clearance around the chair for comfortable access and gentle swinging motion—perfect for smaller spaces!
Q: Does assembly require professional help? A: No, assembly is designed for easy DIY setup. The package includes all necessary hardware and clear instructions. Most users complete assembly in 30-45 minutes with basic tools.
Q: Is the stand included? A: Yes! Your purchase includes the complete set: hanging egg chair basket, freestanding iron pole (195cm height), circular base, waterproof cushion, hanging chain and hooks, and all assembly hardware.
Q: Can I remove the cushion for cleaning? A: Yes, the cushion is removable for easy maintenance. Simply spot clean with mild soap and water, or wipe down with a damp cloth. The waterproof material makes cleaning straightforward.
Q: How high is the seat from the ground? A: The seat hangs approximately 40-50 cm from the ground, providing comfortable entry and exit while allowing for a soothing, gentle swing.
Q: Will the rattan fade in sunlight? A: The PE rattan is designed to be UV-resistant and maintain its appearance with regular outdoor use. Some minimal fading may occur with prolonged direct sun exposure over time. Placing under covered areas helps preserve its beauty.
Q: Is the base stable enough for indoor use on hardwood floors? A: Yes, the 95cm diameter base provides excellent stability on various surfaces including hardwood, tile, and outdoor decking. We recommend using protective pads on delicate flooring to prevent scratches.
Q: What makes this model ideal for apartments? A: Features a more compact design compared to standard egg chairs, with an 84cm width and 95cm base—perfect for balconies, small patios, or interior corners without overwhelming your space.
Q: Does the chair require ceiling mounting? A: No! This is a freestanding design with its own sturdy support pole and base, so no ceiling installation or drilling is required. Simply assemble and place anywhere you like.
Q: What's included in the package? A: Your complete package includes: 1 hanging egg chair basket, 1 iron support pole and circular base, 1 waterproof 15cm cushion, hanging chain with secure attachments, all assembly hardware, and detailed instructions.
Q: How do I care for this chair? A: Maintenance is simple—wipe the PE rattan with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Clean the iron frame as needed with a soft cloth. Remove and clean the cushion periodically by spot cleaning or wiping down. Store indoors or cover during harsh weather to maximize the chair's lifespan and maintain its beautiful appearance.
Shipping & Delivery
Shipping & Delivery
Most of what we sell is bulky — scooters, beds, reformers, massage chairs. This page tells you what actually happens between your order and your front door, so there are no surprises on delivery day.
Cat trees: free delivery to inner-metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, arriving in 2–5 business days from your order.
Where we deliver, and what it costs
We ship within Australia only. We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers — a street address with someone able to receive the item is required.
- Free delivery to inner-metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Outer-metro suburbs are not included. Check the postcode list →
- Everywhere else in Australia: shipping is calculated at checkout from your postcode and the item's size and weight.
- Regional and remote postcodes: if your address is outside our carriers' normal network, we will contact you before dispatch to confirm the freight cost. If you would rather know first, email us your postcode and the model and we will quote it.
We use Allied Express, Hunter Express and other certified Australian carriers. Delivery timeframes are estimates — they depend on the carrier and your location, and we cannot guarantee an exact day.
Oversized items — please read before ordering
Mobility scooters, adjustable beds, massage chairs and Pilates reformers are freight items, not parcels. They are too heavy for one person to move and they cannot be lifted into a car.
| Item | Shipping weight (incl. packaging) |
|---|---|
| 500W four-wheel mobility scooter | 154 kg |
| 650W long-range mobility scooter | 190 kg |
What this means for you:
- You need a ground-floor address with clear access — a driveway, garage, carport or similar. Narrow laneways, steep driveways, apartment stairs and restricted loading zones all cause problems. If any of these apply, contact us before you order.
- Someone needs to be there to receive the delivery. These items cannot be left unattended.
- A scooter needs somewhere to live and charge — a garage, shed or carport with a power point. It will not fit in a car boot and it cannot be carried up steps.
- If you are not sure your access works, call us on 1300 674 395 and describe it. We would much rather sort it out beforehand than have a truck turn up and fail.
Pick up in person
You are welcome to collect your order, and to see the product before you commit. Pickup is by appointment so we can have the item ready and someone free to help you load it.
- Sydney — 1/31 Birnie Avenue, Lidcombe NSW 2141. Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.
- Melbourne — 2/94 Willandra Drive, Epping VIC 3076. By appointment.
Tracking your order
You will get an email with a tracking number once your order is dispatched. Tracking can take 24–48 hours to start updating. If it has not moved, or the delivery window has passed, email us and we will chase the carrier for you.
If something arrives damaged
Before you unpack any further, photograph the outer carton, the damage itself and the shipping label. Email the photos and your order number to contact@urbanculturehomes.com.au within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange a replacement or refund.
This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
